Here is the Manxter built by our shop (PAT VW SHOP in Belgium) for a customer. This is the first MANXTER to ride in Europe.
It has been started by an vw's enthousiast employee of our customer, and we have received the car without engine, wiring and finish.
The chassis and the rollcage have been sandblasted and powdercoated in satin black, the front beam is a ball joint version, there are stock disc brakes on dropped spindles at the front and stock drums at the rear. The gearbox is standard 3.88 Rancho swing axle, the shockabsorber are from KYB, the engine has been built by Pat, it's a 2110cc started from a new aluminium case, with 82 demello crank, bugpack H-beam 5,394, the heads are CB Performance 40x35 ported and polished by STEVE VW SHOP, a Gene Berg full flow system, external oil radiator with thermostat, Kennedy stage 1 clutch, the carb are Weber 44 with a CSP linkage, concerning the cooling, it's a Porsche fan from BAS. For instance the exhaust is Trimill style with spark arrestor muffler, but it should be replaced by a Manxter style one.
The wheels are polished American Racing Torque Thrust 2, in 7x15 with 215/65/15 Cooper Cobra and 10x15 with 275/60/15.
The dashboard has been covered in black leather and equipped with Autometer gauges,( speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure and temperature, fuel level) , the interior has been ordered from BEARD in beige tweed and vinyl, as well as the rollcage cover and hardtop cover.
The Manxter has been presented to the VW NATIONAL in France, where it met a lot of success.
