This is 'Maximus', my unrestored '68 Series 1 Manx(serial no.
M1689D815E); I bought him from the 2nd owner in 1999 partially
disassembled, after 6 years of storage. The body was molded in April 1968,
and still wears the original royal blue metalflake gel-coat finish. He sits
on a shortened 1963 chassis, and was built by a NH Manx dealer in 1968.
The interior was completely upholstered, right down to the headliner inside
the original Meyers hard top. The garage picture shows the curtains in place, and a good idea of the body color. My current engine is a 1600cc
single-port with Kadrons and a merged pipe, on loan from my '68 Beetle;
a 1641 with Weber IDF's is on my 'to do' list. VDO gauges, KYB gas
shocks, a Scat shifter and an Alpine stereo make long trips more pleasant. I
recently replaced the B.F.Goodrich tires, but the chrome Jackman wheels have been on this car since 'day one.'

I enjoy driving the Manx whenever I can, as summer here in the northeast
can be very short; everywhere we go, smiles & waves are sure to greet us.
This little car is definitely a 'keeper' - I proposed to my wife in it in July of 2002, and we were married in October of 2003. Thanks very much to
the Manx Club for letting me share.
