Hello, This is my submission for consideration for buggy of
the month. I recently completed a full restoration on this
69/71 Manx clone in August 2003 taking just over 12 months
to complete. The chassis was originally shortened with the
'71 IRS installed. The body had 6 different coats of paint,
which was all sanded down to the original gel coat - a ruby
red flake. Side pods were added for aesthetics and lots of
chrome bits to give it a little flash. It runs on a rebuilt
1641 with dual Weber 34's and stock transmission. Future plans
are to have the soft top resewn and roll bar reinstalled.
It received recognition at its first VW show entered this
year. I cannot say enough about the enjoyment I have received
out of this buggy. Thank you Danny
