1966 Manx style buggy-I bought the buggy a little over a year ago. Since then I have taken the car completely apart and gone through the rebuild. The polished aluminum dash was a long process, doing all the work by hand and it could still use some polishing. When I took it apart, I found that the floorboards were rusted through and needed to be replaced. The paint was O.K. but I went for a new paint job with a full hot rod look. The wiring was a mess, so a complete re-wire was in order. I wanted a different look for the rear lights (something a little different than bug lights). I went on the hunt for 2 bulb rear van lights (these were not easy to find, but I did). I also wanted something different for the front turn indicator lights (I ended up using the same lights as in the dash but the jumbo version). The license plate ring is from a hot rod shop, complete with a light. I gathered all the parts and went to work. The painting was not done by me (no experience in paint). I hired the best painter I could find with expertise in restoring VW's (Jimmy Braxmeyer-760-390-4377). Here are a couple of photo's of the 99% finished product (I don't think I can ever be 100% done, I look at it and always want to upgrade something else). Here are some of the specs - 1600 dp motor, stock tranny, 3 stage candy apple red paint (18 coats), new black interior carpet, completely rewired, New parts include floor pans, fuel tank, front bumper, windshield and frame, all lights, mirrors, seats (Beard), gauges and switches (VDO speedo, tach, oil pressure, oil temp, volts, fuel qty) new centerline wheels, new tires, shocks (KYB). I hope you like it. Thanks, Bob
