This is my Classic Manx 046/100 for consideration for Buggy
of the Month. I built it on a Berrien Buggy frame with suspension
taken from a $100 rusted out '73 chassis. Using the tube chassis
brings up some unique problems, but overall it was a good
way to go. I kept things clean and simple. The lights, gauges,
and dash trim are from a '65 Bug. The seats are Corbeau¹s
mounted on Berrien mounts. Wheels are Weld Draglites. The
mirrors came from Moon Equipment, the gas cap from a Triumph
TR-6. The engine is a mild 1600 with an Engle 110 cam, dual
Solex¹s, Gene Berg valve train and Manx sidewinder exhaust.
A dual Weber Gene Berg 1776 is in the works. I had blast building
the car. Now we put on lots of miles driving on Daytona Beach,
where it always gets a thumbs-up.
