Hi, Here are some pictures of my recently completed buggy. My son Spencer and I built it over the last 10 months

Specs as follows:
The buggy is built on a 1972 Type 1 chassis. The body is a clone from RTS. We custom built a 3” body lift from 10 gauge steel as the ones you can buy are pretty weak. The area under the rear seat has been boxed in with fiberglass and fitted with 2 marine hatches that gives about 5 cu ft. of dry storage. Under this structure we built a steel sub frame which anchors the rear of the cage and then extends down to the frame horns using heim jointed links. Absolutely solid. The hood, wipers and windshield come off the car in one piece with 4 clips. We use a quick connect electrical connector. The green access openings on the hood are for gas and to access the fuse block. All the lights remain in place. Under the hood is a 12 gallon fuel cell and the wiring. The side pods are bolted and pop-riveted in place and then we filled them with 2 part expandable urethane foam. Lots of body rigidity and protection in case of a side impact as the car is street legal. Custom carbon fiber dash with VW speedo and assorted other gauges and tach. We had the two main hoops for the 8 point cage bent and then we welded the rest of it and had it powder coated. Poly molded seats from Summit Racing with 5 point harnesses. Front discs are from a 72 Ghia. Engine is 1776 with 110 cam, ported heads, bigger valves, Scat crank all machined and balanced by RIMCO. Single 40 WEBER and rest of the usual VW bolt on electrics. Engine is a great street engine, very drivable.

Thanks for the opportunity to show the car off. It was great fun building it.
