Annual Lewis W. Barton Arboretum  Lecture

"Bringing Nature Home"

Saturday, April 24, 2010 | 11:00 am

Medford Campus Theater | Open to the Public | No Charge

Douglas Tallamy, professor and chair of the Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware, will present “Bringing Home Nature.”

Tallamy, a leader in the field of native plants, will explain how everyone can welcome more wildlife into their gardens just by planting a few native plants. During this program, Tallamy will demonstrate ways that gardeners can slow the rate of extinction by planting natives in their yards. He will illustrate how the choices we make as gardeners profoundly impact the diversity of life in our yards, our towns, and on our planet.

Recognized for research in the fields of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology, Tallamy has published 68 research articles and has taught courses on these topics for nearly three decades.  Recently The Garden Writers Association of America awarded his book, Bringing Nature Home, its Silver Medal.

Light luncheon fare and tours of the Lewis W. Barton Arboretum will follow the lecture.

Please RSVP, call 609-654-3527.
